The largest Italian festival in New Zealand starts with Andrea Bocelli in concert at Vector Arena on 11 September, and concludes with the Italian Film Festival at the Rialto, Newmarket on 12 October.
Festival Italiano is a celebration of culture, music, food, design and everything that il Bel Paese (the beautiful country) has to offer in New Zealand.
The annual Italian community street party held in Osborne and Kent Streets, tucked behind Broadway in Newmarket is one of the highlights of Festival Italiano. Local business really get into the spirit of things with vibrant Italian window displays and Italian themed activities and menus.
On Sunday 27 September, from 11am to 4pm, Osborne Street in Newmarket will be pedestrian only, hosting al fresco dining, live music and entertainment with Italian MC Paolo Rotondo and special guest (and Italian speaker) Sir John Kirwin.
Look out also for free activities for the children in the Kid’s Pavilion, workshops, spot prizes, Ferrari cars and Italian motorbikes, delicious tastings and fun for the whole family. There is a raffle on the day to win a trip to Italy.
